Cadillac Sky – International Bluegrass Music Association Emerging Artist of the Year nominee
New album, ‘Gravity’s Our Enemy’ out this Tuesday!
The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) released their 2008 awards nominees yesterday morning, and Cadillac Sky is nominated for Emerging Artist of the Year. The newest artists on Ricky Skaggs’ Skaggs Family Records, Cadillac Sky is turning heads and attracting fans with their brand of progressive bluegrass.
The announcement comes just days before the release of Cadillac Sky’s latest record, ‘Gravity’s Our Enemy,’ due out 8/19 on Skaggs Family Records. They will be celebrating the release in style, with a pair of parties and performances almost 1000 miles apart. On release day, 8/19, they’ll be performing at The Grand Ole Opry with Ricky Skaggs. Then they’ll be driving straight through the night to make it to their second release show – this one at Lola’s Saloon, in the band’s hometown, Fort Worth, TX on 8/20.
‘Gravity’s Our Enemy’ is an amazing piece of progressive bluegrass. Songs like “Bible By The Bed,” “Inside Joke,” and “My Precious Waltz” combine things as disparate as swing, country balladry, Eastern European folk music, and the high lonesome harmonies and masterful instrumentation that a listener expects from truly top-notch bluegrass.
